Bratton Seymour is a haven for wildlife and plants, as the gardens and surrounding fields are largely left undisturbed, just occasionally grazed by young cattle. So the wildlife here is fascinating, much of it shares out space permanently, and others just turn up here for a while, and occasionally are captured on camera.
Our Birds come and go according to the weather and the season.

Since 2017 a tawny owl has visited the Uplands garden at dusk in mid summer and hunts on our lawn for about 15 minutes. Each year it sits in the same tree on the same branch, as it scans the lawn and dives down.
Walking around our village can lead to some amazing chance encounters
Not always easy to love, but with so many wildflowers we also have a wide range of insects including the glow worms which live in the grassy bank on the way to the church.

Fascinating fungi – edible or not!
We have many “fairy rings” on our lawns, and other interesting fungi.
Sit and wait and the wildlife will come.
